Fred S. Lee's Music
Music
This is something that I enjoy that has been gathering dust from unuse
for a long time. Of all music genres, classical piano (or piano + any
other instrument(s)) music takes the cake for me. Below are some piano
pieces that I recorded myself playing back in high school with a ghetto
mic and tape deck. Nowadays, I play sporatically, due to other priorities.
Once I finish school, I'll definitely be playing more regularly again!
For now, I leave a few personal reflections on each piece.
Enjoy!
The Beethoven Waldstein Sonata was written during the later period of
Beethoven's life (during the "romantic" period of music), and is dedicated
to Count Waldstein, one of the folks who supported Beethoven early on in
his passion.

Out of these three pieces, this one is by far the one I was able to polish,
interpret, and digest the most. Written by Liszt, a virtuoso pianist in the
early 19th century, he was intrigued by the music of vagrant gypsies, and
thus was inspired to write the 19 Hungarian Rhapsodies (of which #2 is made
famous by a particular "Tom and Jerry" cartoon episode).

This is a piece that I wanted to play for its flashyness and difficulty.
It is called the Mephisto Waltz, and is based on a poem by Lenau about an
interchange between a guy named Faust and Mephistopheles (Satan). You can
google for the poem if interested.
